What is cardiac rehabilitation?

Cardiac rehabilitation helps people who are recovering from a cardiac event or chronic heart condition. Your doctor may have already spoken to you about staying healthy via diet, exercise, and general wellness.

Typically, cardiac rehabilitation is a structured program of 12-18 weeks with the goal of lifelong healthy behaviors. Recora can discuss the benefits of this with you and help get you to a program that fits your needs.

Who can benefit from cardiac rehabilitation?

Cardiac Rehabilitation is recommended for the majority of patients below, and is an accepted standard of care by the American Heart Association. Qualifying individuals include those who have recently had a:

  • heart attack (acute myocardial infarction)
  • stent placement (also known as percutaneous coronary intervention)
  • coronary bypass surgery (also known as a coronary artery bypass graft)
  • heart valve surgery (valve replacement or valvuloplasty)

Or who have recently been diagnosed with:

  • congestive heart failure
  • stable angina

For more information about who could benefit from cardiac rehabilitation, we’d recommend reading more on the Million Hearts initiative website.
